John T. O'Neil (1913-1977) Papers 1936-1977

O'Neil was an instructor in business economics and statistics At Northwestern, while working on his doctorate. In 1956 he returned to Northwestern from North Carolina as associate professor of business administration. He held this position until 1958 when he was promoted to full professor. In 1963 his title was changed to professor of finance. O'Neil also held several administrative positions at Northwestern, including assistant dean of the School of Commerce and coordinator for the quantitative controls in business program. The John T. O'Neil Papers are arranged in seven main categories: biographical material; course material; case materials; materials related to the Instituto de Estudios Superiores de Administration (IESA); items pertaining to University committees and administrative work; meeting and conference materials; and publications.

John Tettemer O'Neil was born on July 25, 1913, in Henderson, North Carolina. He received a Bachelor of Science from the University of North Carolina in 1934 and a Master of Business Administration from the Harvard University Graduate School of Business in 1936. O'Neil worked on his doctoral degree at Northwestern from 1940 to 1943 and served in the army during 1944 and 1945.
